Reconstructivism
•#BBUM •This is a movement that has gathered national attention. •It has provoked other students to respond negatively and positively. •This is an example of present-day Reconstructionism. Students address institutionalize racism and demand need for change. •Students take their rights to the hill. • Power is in the action, and in numbers. •We, at all Universities must ask ourselves, “what are we doing for all students?” •How can we create a space to support students and encourage a welcoming community? •
- Type of Philosophy
- Assumption of radical need for change in order to improve society
- Advocate an attitude toward change that encourages individual to try to make life better than it was or is.
- Education is based on social action; schools can not be separated from the rest of society
- Education must be reformed to emancipate oppressed groups.
- Based on the believe that individuals and society can be bettered, often through education
- Chaos theory, “nonlinear dynamical systems theory (NDS).. No straight lines or perfect symmetry found in nature
